What you'll actually get

Most SEO problems are technical, not content. Pages Google can't crawl. Schema that's missing or broken. Page speed that's tanking your rankings. Mobile usability issues you can't see. We audit, we fix, we monitor. Boring work that compounds for years.

Speed that ranks

Core Web Vitals fixed properly. LCP under 2.5s, CLS under 0.1, INP under 200ms. The rankings follow.

Crawlable, indexable, found

robots.txt, sitemap.xml, canonical tags, redirects. The infrastructure search engines actually look at.

Schema that gets results

Structured data done properly. Product, Review, FAQ, Organization, Article. Rich results that boost click-through.

Rhiannon and Darren Birch, founders of Cheshire Cat Marketing
Meet the agency

Run by two people, who care a bit too much

Cheshire Cat Marketing is Rhiannon and Darren. We founded it in 2016 because we'd seen too many small businesses burn through agency budgets and end up with a slow site and a stack of invoices.

Your main point of contact is a senior person who stays with you throughout, involved in the work rather than relaying messages from a separate team. That's how we keep the standard high and the price honest.

  • Five-star rated, every review 54 reviews across Google and Facebook. Not one of them below five stars.
  • Award-winning Shortlisted more times than we can neatly list, and we've taken a good few home.
  • Everything done in-house No freelancers, no white-label, nobody you've never met touching your account.
  • Outspoken, honest support We'll tell you when something won't work, even when it'd be easier to take the money.

What other agencies charge extra for

Most SEO agencies list a price, then bill you separately for content, audits, backlinks and the work that actually moves rankings. We include it all in the monthly fee. Here's what that means in practice.

  • New content writing Blog posts, landing pages, product copy. Written by humans, not AI.
    Included
  • Backlink work Quality citations and outreach. We won't buy you spam links that get you penalised.
    Included
  • Deep technical audits Proper deep dives, not just surface-level tweaks.
    Included
  • AI Overviews optimisation ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity. The search game changed and we changed with it.
    Included
  • E-E-A-T credibility work Author bios, schema markup, expertise signals. Without it, you won't rank in YMYL spaces.
    Included
  • Conversion rate tracking Rankings don't pay the bills. We track what converts and tune accordingly.
    Included
  • Plain-English reporting Written by the person doing your work, not auto-generated. You'll actually read it.
    Included
  • Direct access to your senior contact No account managers in the way. Your contact is hands-on with the work, end to end.
    Included

All included in the monthly retainer. No 'add-on' invoices. No surprise costs.

Technical SEO is included in every package

We don't sell technical SEO as a bolt-on. Crawl fixes, schema, Core Web Vitals and indexing work are part of the monthly retainer. Deep audits come as standard on the higher tiers.

Technical SEO work in progress at Cheshire Cat Marketing

Why technical SEO comes first

You can write the world’s best content. If Google can’t crawl your pages, can’t render them properly, or thinks they’re duplicates of something else, none of it ranks. Technical SEO is the foundation. Get it wrong and content marketing is wasted effort.

The good news: technical SEO is mostly one-and-done. Audit the site, fix what’s broken, set up monitoring, and most issues stay fixed. Unlike content (constant) or links (constant), technical work compounds and the value lasts.

Every audit we do finds the same patterns. Bloated themes from page builders. Missing schema. Broken redirects from old site migrations. Internal linking that doesn’t make sense. We fix all of it and document everything so your future team has the full picture.

What's in our Technical SEO packages

Every project's different. We tailor what we do to what you actually need. Here's the toolkit.

Full technical audit

30+ page audit covering crawl, index, render, speed, schema, mobile, security. Documented and prioritised.

Core Web Vitals

LCP, CLS, INP all measured, attributed to specific elements, fixed at the source. Real device data, not just lab tests.

Schema markup

Product, Review, FAQ, Article, Organization, LocalBusiness. Implemented properly, validated, monitored.

Crawl & index

robots.txt review, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, redirect chains, internal linking architecture.

JavaScript SEO

React, Vue, Next.js sites with proper rendering. Pre-rendering or SSR where it matters.

Migrations & redirects

Site migrations done right. Redirect mapping, post-launch monitoring, rank recovery plans if anything tanks.

Frequently asked questions

If we haven't covered it, just ask. The chat tab in the corner gets straight through to a real person.

How long does a technical audit take?

Two to three weeks for the full audit. Implementation depends on scope. Quick wins go in immediately, bigger structural changes (CMS migration, theme rebuild) get scheduled around your release calendar.

Do I need technical SEO if my site is new?

Yes, more than ever. Getting the technical foundations right at launch saves months of remediation later. We’ll audit pre-launch and post-launch, fixing things before they hurt rankings.

Will you work with our existing developers?

Yes. Most technical work needs developer changes. We brief in plain language, provide tickets ready to drop into Jira or Linear, and review the work before it goes live. On WordPress sites we’ll do the work ourselves if you’d rather.

Do you fix Core Web Vitals?

Yes. CWV is roughly 30% of our technical work. We measure with real-user data (CrUX, GA4), attribute issues to specific page elements, and fix at the source rather than papering over with caching tricks.

Is technical SEO a one-time job or ongoing?

Mostly one-time. The big audit and fix-up is a project. After that, ongoing monitoring (Search Console, CWV alerts, broken link checks) is a small monthly task. We’ll set it up so you get alerted before issues become problems.

Do you do technical SEO for ecommerce?

Yes. Big chunk of our work. Faceted navigation, parameter handling, product schema, category structure, JavaScript-heavy product pages. WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento all covered.

Five-star rated. Real clients. Real results.

We've been delivering for SMEs across the UK and Finland since 2016. Read what they actually say.

I just want to say, the guys over at Cheshire Cat Marketing are amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of people to constantly be in contact with. Whether it was checking up on me and my business or being open to listening to my ever changing ideas! Everything in between too! I would recommend them to anyone wanting, social media or anything marketing wise for your business!

I’ve just phoned and spoken to Rhi, who has been absolutely incredible! I phoned to cheekily ask for some advice, as I am fundraising for a charity event. She was incredible, offering advice, guidance and ideas. The support was truly incredible and has allowed me now to hopefully generate more publicity and support for the event I am supporting.I am in awe of her friendly disposition and her generosity of her experience. Her entire demeanour was approachable and supportive and offered a true unique perspective, whilst being situational and economically aware. So pleased, and touched to have had such a wonderful and postive interaction and would encourage anyone to use their services again.

The Cheshire Cat team are fantastic. They really care about understanding your business and doing a great job. Each time they send me some posts to approve I'm always thrilled with the results - and with 20+ years marketing experience, I'm not an easy person to please! We've seen our followers steadily grow whilst we've been working with them - recommended!
