A 40-year Yorkshire furniture name, growing online

House of Oak have sold solid oak furniture from their Yorkshire showroom since 1983. We helped them climb the search results and get real returns from their Google Ads, then rebuilt their online store to look as good as the furniture inside it.

The client

An established name, with a real reputation behind it

House of Oak have been a family furniture business since 1983. Solid oak and painted ranges, sold from a proper Yorkshire showroom at the quality end of the market. Four decades of customers, and the reputation that comes with it.

They wanted to grow online without changing what already works. So we got to work across their search, their ad spend, and the store itself.

What we did

The work came in three parts

Search SEO

We built out the category structure, with pages for the things people actually search, from grey bedside tables to small sideboards. We rewrote the category and product copy so it read well and ranked, all on solid technical foundations.

"Oak furniture" climbed from page three to the top of page one. It's one of the biggest terms in the sector. Search for a solid oak sideboard or an oak coffee table today and House of Oak sits in the top five, next to plenty more terms that bring in buyers.

Paid ads GOOGLE ADS

We took over the Google Ads and ran it with real discipline. Tight targeting, carefully planned changes, and reporting the owner could read at a glance.

Brand search returned around £22 for every £1 spent. Performance Max settled at a healthy long-run return of about 4.2 times spend. And a cart recovery system we built won back around £20,000 in its first month.

The store WEB DESIGN

Then the store itself. We built it fresh on a custom theme, with fully custom pages, lean and quick. We gave it a warmer, more premium design that suits the furniture, and rebuilt the checkout from scratch.

Best of all, the rankings we'd worked so hard for came through the redesign completely intact. Faster and better looking, with the search visibility exactly where we'd got it to.

Performance

And it's quick

Core Web Vitals pass on mobile and desktop, on the real-visitor data Google uses to rank. The homepage loads in under a second. Lighthouse scores it 100 for performance. For a shop this size, that's rare.

Forty years in and you get wary of big promises. What we actually got was a quicker site that looks how the furniture deserves to look, and we didn't lose a single ranking rebuilding it. That was the part I'd worried about most.
